Two of Fioretto FC's prominent members receive recognition for their contribution to the club and to the local community in the Caroline Chisholm and Sir John Monash Awards.
| Yen Sen received are much deserved nomination for this years Sir John Monash Community Awards, in the Young Volunteer Award category. Yen Sen has been fencing with us since the age of 15. All along the way he has helped the club with it's public demonstrations, working bee's and our very important volunteer commitment to the Variety Club Christmas Party. More over, in the past year or two Yen Sen has been putting back into our junior community, volunteering his time to referee and assist running our junior events. This effort makes Yen Sen stand out in a wonderful group of young people that form the core of our club, and without whom our club could not honour our commitments to our community activities. On the eve of Yen Sen's trip overseas to complete his studies it was lovely to recognise his efforts around the club. Like a true volunteer, Yen Sen does not make a big deal of his effort - indeed he does not think giving back to the community is anything unusual. | | |
 | | Another recognition went to Coach Brook Dunstan, winning the Caroline Chisholm Award for significant volunteer services in the Chisholm electorate. The award was given based on Brook's work to develop training programs and opportunities for children in our area, as well as setting up and running the regional competition series 'the ERC' and the Fioretto Junior Challenge series. Ironically Brook could not receive the award in person, as the presentation conflicted with the ERC championship round this year! It would be a good moment now to point out that these are just 2 people in our club, amongst many who give some portion of their time to help make different areas of our service a success. I would personally like to thank everyone for their help in the last few years to build Fioretto up to the wonderful club that it is today. Whether it be helping in the store, supplying signs, manning the pie warmer or simply packing up after a competition, these efforts form the fabric of our community spirit. |
